"The sheen and fluidity of silk enhances the colours and bring the images to life."

Bríd Kivneen is based in the West of Ireland. The wild rugged landscapes of County Mayo are a major influence in her works and are the inspiration for her hand painted silk scarves, ties and silk paintings.

"I love working with silk"

"It is one of the most precious fibres in the world and is a beautiful natural material to work with."

Her use of large, bold images to express the exquisite beauty of nature is a distinguishing feature of Bríd's work. During her many years as a silk painter she has perfected various silk painting techniques. Coupled with her interpretation of shape, colour and texture, each item is a guaranteed to be a unique, showcasing the skill of a practiced artist.

"I appreciate and grow unusual flowering plants which I sometimes use as a starting  point, I have a keen interest in their mythological and healing properties."

Each silk scarf and silk painting is hand painted with care, enjoying the freedom, self expression and my love of the work whilst exploring aspects of the abundance of this planet.
