"The sheen and fluidity of silk enhances the colours and bring the images to life."

Bríd Kivneen is based in the West of Ireland where the wild rugged landscapes influence and inspire the hand painted silk scarves, ties and silk paintings which she designs and creates. She trained initially as a weaver and spinner, then diversified into silk painting, preferring the more fluid freedom of working with paint and fabric.

"Silk is a most precious fibre and a beautiful natural material to work with."

Large, bold images are a distinguishing feature of Bríd's work. During her many years as a silk painter she has perfected various silk painting techniques. Coupled with her interpretation of shape, colour and texture, each item is a guaranteed to be unique.

"I appreciate and grow unusual flowering plants which I sometimes use as a starting  point, I have a keen interest in their mythological and healing properties."

Each silk scarf and silk painting is hand painted with care, enjoying the freedom, self expression and my love of the work whilst exploring aspects of the abundance of this planet.
